Dear <<First Name>>,

On behalf of the Friends of MacKenzie along with DNR staff I would like to thank all those who volunteered, or worked to help put together Fall Festival. It was very much appreciated! This event was held Saturday October 18th. There were some 70 plus volunteers and staff that organized, set up, worked, and took down, and stored the  materials for this event.

After a shaky start to the week, the weather changed and fully cooperated, making it fun for everyone. There were hayrides, compass course, archery, pond exploration, animal furs and skulls, crafts, hay bale maze, wood cutting with buck saws, fire building, and much more. All got to try their hand, and skills.

Food and baked goods were available, along with our gift shop items.

Hunting season is upon us so all beware of your surroundings and hunting locations. Be safe as you work outside, or go hiking. Wear bright colors (blaze orange, or pink) is best! Have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

All the best,
Carl Bujanowski, President

Volunteers Needed

On Saturday, November 8th, the MacKenzie Center will be hosting a Fall Candlelight Hike! This event will start at 5:30pm and end at 8pm. We will have a campfire and a furs table for participants to enjoy after hiking, and we would love to have hot chocolate and marshmallows if possible.

We are looking for volunteers to help in a few different areas:
  • Procuring marshmallows and hot chocolate prior to the event.
  • Preparing and setting out luminaries before the event. Please arrive about 3:30pm to assist with this task.
  • Serving hot chocolate at the event. Arrival time: 5pm.
  • Educating at the furs table and tending the fire. Arrival time: 5pm.
Let Rachel Padour know of your interest at rachel.padour@wisconsin.gov or 608-635-8112.
November Fact

Its name comes from the Latin word "novem" for nine. November has been a time for holidays like Veterans Day and Thanksgiving, and the full moon is traditionally called the Beaver Moon.
