AbTeC Gallery Vernissage "Old Cars Make My Nipples Hard" |
On Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 2 PM EST, AbTeC Gallery will be livestreaming the vernissage of Old Cars Make My Nipples Hard, featuring transmediated works by Archer Pechawis.
Old Cars Make My Nipples Hard takes on the challenge of transmediating artworks created with obsolete media. A member of the Mistawasis Nêhiyawak in Saskatchewan, Pechawis works at the intersection of Plains Cree culture and digital technology. Leveraging the affordances of current technology, this exhibition gives visitors the opportunity to experience Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun’s 1997 performance “An Indian Act Shooting the Indian Act”, watch videos that were previously trapped on a CD as QuickTimeVRs, and enjoy a new installation that simultaneously reflects Pechawis’ punk spirit and his family heritage. Join us for our next Research Bites session featuring Tarcisio Cataldi!
Tarcisio will share his research on an Afro-Brazilian visual imaginary, drawing on the concept of Quilombismo as articulated by Abdias do Nascimento. In Tarcisio’s work, he explores how flags can be a powerful medium for speculation, reimagining collective symbols and narratives. Through research-creation, he investigates how national identities are deliberately designed and how they can foster new understandings of resistance and belonging in the Brazilian context.

Amanda Lickers' Talk at daphne |
On Wednesday, April 22, at 6 pm, Amanda Lickers will be having an artist talk at daphne.
Amanda Lickers is Seneca from Six Nations of the Grand River and an active member of the Buckskin Babes Urban Moose Hide-Tanning Collective. The group makes land-based traditions–from fish skin leather to hand-tanned deer and moose hides–accessible to urban Indigenous peoples. Amanda will also share insights into her arts practice and how she got involved in hide tanning.

Wayfinders Finnisage at daphne |
Join us at daphne on Friday, May 1, 2026, to see culmination of the Wayfinders residency!
Over five days, six Concordia students will work alongside artist Rolande Souliere to develop a sculptural installation that will serve as a visual landmark for the daphne. Together, they will explore how wayfinding can express personal and collective identity, Indigenous knowledge systems, lived experience, relationships to land, and pathways of care and community.

03. Call for Proposals: LeParc Embodied Intervention |
Embodied Interventions is a performance festival involving students from LePARC research cluster and beyond. This year’s theme will focus on the overlapping spaces between labour and performance. The work of animation, and the animation of work: to animate a space, to be animated, animare, to give movement or life. Participants will receive a two-week residency across Concordia spaces, an artist-researcher fee, curatorial support, documentation and basic technical support for the final presentation. 08. Call for Submissions: Macdonald Stewart Foundation and McCord Museum Stained-Glass |
The Macdonald Stewart Foundation, in collaboration with the McCord Stewart Museum, is launching a call for submissions for Indigenous artists. This project involves the creation of a stained-glass design, which will then be produced by a French master glassmaker. The final work will be permanently installed in the Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul Church in Brouage, France, in fall 2027. Indigenous Artworks Commissioned for Concordia’s Hall Building Terrace |
The Indigenous Directions Leadership Council (IDLC) and Concordia’s Public Art office have co-commissioned two permanent artworks by Indigenous artists in the Hall Building. Hannah Claus and Kaia’tanó:ron Dumoulin Bush will co-create a mural for the space and Jobena Petonoquot, and Jason Sikoak will submit designs for a medallion to be embedded in the terrace pavers.
