Making new friends and getting ready for the new season...

Countdown to Soccer…

We are just a few weeks away from kicking off the fall season. You should hear from coaches now with information on team meetings, practices, and more. If you’ve stepped up to volunteer, THANK YOU. You will soon hear from a board member to assist you on your journey toward becoming a referee or team manager.

The Region 13 Soccer Community, Together

As players get ready for the new season, every Region 13 family is invited to connect with fellow soccer families. There’s a plethora of events in the coming weeks to get the new season off to a great start:

For details on all upcoming events, be sure to check out our Region 13 calendar.

“We All Cheer for the LA Galaxy”

Local team loyalties may be divided, but we can all agree that there’s nothing like seeing the pros play live and in person. Region 13 is headed to Carson to cheer on the Galaxy against FC Dallas. And BONUS: a limited number of on-field experiences will be awarded at random to Region 13 players!  Don’t miss this chance to make a memory that will last a lifetime.

Saturday, August 30 | 7:30pm
Dignity Health Sports Park, 18400 Avalon Blvd, Carson, CA 90746
Tickets are $20 each at ayso13.org/tickets

Sunday Skills & What’s NEXT

Shortly after the Fall season starts, Region 13 launches two programs for players looking to level up their skills:

Sunday Skills Clinics are weekly sessions providing players of all ages an extra opportunity to develop. If your player is looking to learn new moves, get extra practice, or targeted goalkeeper training, Sunday Skills is for you. Sessions are run by professional coaches from Launch Sports. Each age group is broken up into smaller groups, and players are able to join groups with their friends.
Questions? Email Jonathan Gardner.

NEXT is for 10U, 12U, and 14U players seeking more advanced play with friends. On Sundays during the Fall season, each division meets for 90 minutes of drills plus a full-field scrimmage. As the fall season progresses, coaches may arrange friendly matches with other teams from around Southern California. NEXT is open to all players who love soccer and are seeking extra competitive play. If you’re interested, go to your inLeague Family Profile, click “Update Registration” next to your name, and be sure to check the “NEXT – additional games for enthusiastic players” box.

More Ways to Get Involved

Action Photographer
Are you a soccer parent who’s also a pro or hobbyist photographer? We’re looking to replenish our collection of awesome soccer action shots. These photos are invaluable in helping us tell the story of being part of Region 13. If you can help capture the magic, email bret@ayso13.org.

School Partners
Can you help connect soccer families and strengthen relationships with local schools? The new School Liaison role involves a willingness to build bridges between Region 13 and fellow leaders at your kids’ school. If you’re a parent at a PUSD, LAUSD, LCF, charter, or private school playing in Region 13, write to rc@ayso13.org.

Equipment for Families Impacted by the Eaton Fire

Region 13 soccer families will be recovering from the fire for years to come. If you need any replacement soccer gear, Region 13 can help. You can indicate that on your player registration form, or fill out the form at ayso13.org/eaton or reply to this email. AYSO can supply socks, shoes, shin guards, coach/referee gear, etc.

Need a soccer ball? Stop by the clubhouse at 711 W Woodbury, Unit E, Altadena. Take a ball or leave a ball in the bin outside the door.

Letter from the Commissioner

Hi ⚽️ Families,

Our soccer season starts in less than a month! I hope you are all as excited about that as I am. I can’t wait to get out on the field with our Region 13 community to enjoy the Beautiful Game together. The next few weeks include loads of training sessions to prep for the new season, but there are also fun family events to connect with new and old friends. You won’t want to miss our Annual Kickoff Party at Memorial Park in La Canada on August 26. We provide tacos and soccer balls, as well as an opportunity to meet your coaches, as well as our Region 13 coach and referee staff. Bring your questions and an appetite!

Also not to be missed is our Region 13 trip to see the LA Galaxy play. We’ll all be seated in the same section, and some of our players will even have a chance to help hold the banners on the field before the game. It’s going to be a magical night, and I hope everyone will join me there. As always, let me know if you have questions or suggestions for the new soccer season. I can’t wait to see you out there!

Patrick Shopbell, your volunteer RC
