There will be a Special Town Meeting on Wednesday, January 21, at 6pm, at the Drinkwater School to vote on a proposed Town-owned solar array on Town property at the old sand shed site (216 Beech Hill Road).
The Town is proposing to install an approximately 42 kW solar array that would offset all of the Town's existing electrical usage. This solar array would not block access to the sand shed.
Because the 30% federal tax credits for solar installations are ending, the Town is seeking voter approval at a Special Town Meeting rather than waiting until the annual meeting in June. The Select Board intends to pay for the array entirely with donations and grants.
More information about the array, including answers to frequently asked questions and a copy of the contract, are available on the Town's website.
The warrant for the Special Town Meeting will be posted at the Town Office and on the website after the Board approves it on January 12.
