Gaylen Whiteman Watercolor, Acrylic, Oil, Mixed Media
|
Inspired by the delicate balance of the natural world, Gaylen Whiteman creates artwork that expresses the unseen connections between all living things and the forces that shape our environment. Her paintings reach beyond realism to capture the spirit, beauty, and mystery of nature. Describing her recent bird studies, she states, "The history and daily habits of these little feathered dinosaurs dwelling in my backyard fascinate and enchant me. I love watching them feed at our backyard stations and bathe in our birdbaths. I've decided to paint the ones I see most often, hoping to share their beauty and mystery from my artist's perspective. Rufous Hummingbird and Black-headed Grosbeak are on the easel. I try to reveal their heart & soul in my paintings through their eyes. I hope you can feel the connection as I do!" Read More>>

Madrone Moulton Shadowboxes
|
Raised in an artistic family, Madrone Moulton has spent a lifetime exploring the art of making. Her unique shadowboxes blend her expertise in picture framing with her love of beads and collected treasures, bringing together materials from diverse cultures to create harmonious compositions. Inspired by the peaceful beauty of Whidbey Island, her work reflects both craftsmanship and a deep appreciation for the natural world. She shares, "I delight in finding pieces of stone, glass, bone, and more that become the basis for a new shadowbox. Choosing mats and putting it all together tests my skills, besides being a whole lot of fun." Read More>>

I found some Picasso Jasper stones, and they inspired me with their colors, a new palette. What fun to make shadowboxes with these color combinations.
