Enrichment Program Benefits Preschoolers

During our Preschool Enrichment program, students enjoy a balanced afternoon that includes lunch, rest time, and learning. This past week, students practiced their fine-motor skills through a creative craft project — strengthening little fingers and building coordination that supports the learning they do each morning. We love seeing their focus, joy, and creativity shine!
Big Lessons From a Small Bat

Preschoolers read Stellaluna, by Janell Cannon, and celebrated the story by creating fruit bat hats. The book tells of a baby fruit bat who inadvertently ends up in a bird's nest, leading her to experience a way of life both literally and figuratively upside down!
Students Take a Good Look at Health

As part of the second-grade study of the human body, guest speaker Nurse Medlin talked to the kids about how to keep their bodies healthy. She also brought the very popular googly-eye glasses!

Dr. Snyder, a dentist, donated toothbrushes to all of second-grade after a discussion on how to keep their teeth clean. We have had a productive week learning how to keep our bodies healthy!
Dribble, Pumpkin, Shoot

Last Friday, members of the girl's soccer team spiced up their day with Halloween-themed practice. They wore costumes -though many of which did not lend themselves to much agility or prowess on the field!. They also showed their artistic side via a creative pumpkin decorating competition.

College Applications and Demonstrated Interest

Demonstrated interest is the idea that students applying to colleges will show their enthusiasm by engaging with the college on a variety of levels. While not all colleges use demonstrated interest as a factor in admissions decisions, there are plenty that do. To find out if a college uses demonstrated interest, check the admissions page on their website. If you determine that the college considers demonstrated in their overall decision, here are a few ways to show your excitement:
  • Attend college visits and college fairs
  • Join college/university mailing lists
  • Fill out inquiry cards
  • Meet with admissions representatives
  • Send in any optional/supplemental application materials
  • Agree to an admissions interview if invited
  • Follow and engage with college and university social media accounts
If you show signal interest in a college or university, be sure your interaction is genuine. Admissions personnel will spend time planning opportunities for engagement, following up on your activity, and noting how you respond. If you sign up for a visit but cannot attend, cancel your RSVP. Be sure to check your emails or messages for communication from those schools. Timely and responsible communication can make all the difference! Still have questions? Contact your academic advisor at knelson@sevenrivers.org.
Food Drive Kicks into High Gear

The Student Government Association is sponsoring a food drive until November 20th. Upper school students are invited to donate canned foods. The grammar school will have a Harvest Samba on the 19th so that they can bring in all their items on one day. All donations will be given to Citrus County Blessings. We are asking each upper school student to contribute 3-5 cans to help us reach our goal of donating 1,500 canned food items.

Food is a basic human necessity, and every donation provides an immediate and tangible way to help someone in need!
