• We're excited to announce the Crossover roster now includes Slap Dragon, a genre-defying project created by bassist Scott Mulvahill and vocalist Laura Berens, who met and began writing songs together in the summer of 2023. Sometimes, they call it "groovegrass," and it's easy to see why — with funky bounce in the low-end and jazz-influenced vocals, their acoustic arrangements are tight and danceable. Following their successful Kickstarter campaign in October 2025, they're set to release their debut album, "Mission Statement," in 2026, and we think it's going to be a banger. Check out "Already Won" to see what the fuss is all about.
• Oh, man, Billy and the band's Tiny Desk concert turned out awfully well, if you ask us. It's really the perfect platform for showing off their dynamism and artistry. Of course, the "Live from Apple Studios" that just released to all streaming platforms is pretty great, too, a beautiful distillation of the band's work, recorded this summer in Nashville. Oh, and he announced Spring tour!
• Just got word that the Souls' "Austin City Limits" airing will be Jan. 17, playing alongside Reneé Rapp, which should be an amazing package. Looking forward to them jumping off the screen for folks.
• Speaking of ACL, Andrew and Emily will take the band to Austin for ACL Live at the Moody Theater on April 4 as part of a new run of spring dates. This little soundcheck video they released last month is such a great example of the harmonies they produce.
• Suzanne dropped a single last week, "Knew All Along," that ought to remind everyone she really knows how to put together a rock song. She celebrated with a hometown night in, yes, Austin, at Antone's this past weekend.
• After a busy year touring behind "Girl Dinner," Big Richard dropped a new single last week (landing them on the cover of the New Grass playlist) as a way to announce their follow-up record, "Pet," to release on Signature Sounds Feb. 6.
• If you were wondering just how big "Love Moves Slow" has gotten, wonder no longer: It came in #14 on the SiriusXM the Spectrum's list of top-played songs of 2025. Just behind Billy Strings and "Gild the Lily" at #3. Make sure you catch Eddie on spring tour.
• Our favorite all-instrumental organ trio announced one of their biggest runs last week, and Live for Live Music took notice. With multiple stops featuring back-to-back nights, this ought to be a traveling party.
• Continuing to ride their August release, "All God's Children," the band announced their Through the Grey tour this month, which takes them from Colorado to New York City, and just about every place in between. Oh, and check out this brand-spanking "Toy Heart," released by the Appalachian Sessions last week.
• Our most recent roster addition is busy already, with a new Ego Trip Tour that takes her across the Midwest and East Coast this spring. And don't miss her brand-new "False Prophet," a team-up with Sydnee Conley, with their voices dancing around one another.
