At 28 and new to Ashland, I came to the Rec Center sauna with friends during the winter. The sauna is the gossip capital of Bayfield and a great place to integrate yourself into the local culture, it's a popular place to hangout and crowds form in the healing and social warmth. After moving to Bayfield I would come to use the sauna and catch up with the tall, cute guy who was often saw in the sauna. Cohl and I would sauna, jump in the frozen lake together and began dating, eventually tying the knot in June 2024.
While preparing for my wedding I was a regular on the treadmill – focused on building endurance and enjoying moving my body in a new way. I hadn’t been a gym buff before this but fell in love with the treadmill and this new corner of the Rec Center. If you don't believe that people can fall in love with the treadmill, just ask me about it, I LOVE that thing! After getting pregnant I took time away from the treadmill, and in my third trimester joined the aqua-fit classes where I could continue to workout with the water gently supporting me. I encouraged other expecting moms to come to the class and we all enjoyed the warm welcome and intergenerational community from the class regulars.
