Seventh Graders Zoom Around the Globe
Mr. Gipple's seventh grade students connected two guest speakers, a teacher and pastor who have lived and traveled abroad and offer a fresh perspective on culture and history. Below are two student reflections on the teaching time:
A Teacher’s Experience from Across the World
The seventh-grade world history students are studying Africa. Guest speaker Dr. Paul Madtes taught biology at Africa Nazarene University in Nairobi, Kenya. He spoke about daily differences, such as how at times the power would go out, and students wouldn’t be able to do their work online, forcing them to make quick adjustments. He also explained how buildings and classes were different, and the area where he was staying was rather isolated. Dr. Madtes stated that it was a true gift to help his students receive a great education and to watch them dive into a deeper relationship with Christ. It was truly an honor to have him speak with us, and it helped to emphasize the Africa lesson.

Traveling to the Holy Land
The 7th-grade class got the chance to meet a pastor who leads pilgrimages to Israel. Pastor Kerry Willis, from Hearts Aflame Discipleship Journeys, talked about his time in Israel and all the sights to see! What stood out to me the most was when he talked about a church he preached at when he was there. He told us about how everybody loves the upbeat and joyful music. He showed us some pictures of really famous places in Israel, such as where Jesus was born, where he was crucified, and where he rose again. It was a joy to hear about all of his experiences. Pastor Kerry Willis shared really inspiring stories and views of Israel.
