Join us for the next Media Collab workshop, Designing with Commercial Printing in Mind!
Saturday, October 25th 1-4pm Free
Facilitated by: Zane Pate
Are you curious about how to set up your design files to get the best result when printing your digital artwork? This workshop will provide vital information for any artist that is creating work to be digitally printed. The goal is to demystify print industry terminology, practices and provide artists with some step-by-step guides on paper sizes, crop and bleed.
Throughout this workshop we will cover different ways to achieve print-ready files using Illustrator, and Canva. We will go over the difference between “print to fit” vs “crop and bleed.” If you begin designing your project before knowing certain key elements about commercial printing, you may run into trouble down the road, which can cost you time and money. By becoming acquainted with the print industry before you begin designing your project you will have a much smoother experience.
In the workshop we will cover the steps from design to finished printed project. Participants will learn about how prints are processed in a print shop from London-based print shop technician and interdisciplinary artist Zane Pate. By covering just a few necessary steps, participants will be on their way to creating a variety of printed materials that can help further their career as well as make meaningful connections within their community.
Participants are welcome to bring their own laptop or note-taking tools, but supplies and how-to guides will be provided.

Check out the latest exhibition, Maritime Minute by Les Ramsay
September 4 – October 30, 2025
There's a couple weeks left to check out Les Ramsay's solo exhibition, Maritime Minute, on display until October 30th!
In Maritime Minute, west coast artist Les Ramsay presents a series of abstract paintings, sculpture, and needlepoint works that meditate on coastal landscapes, fleeting time, and the quiet urgency of environmental change.
Drawing from the language of maritime imagery—tidal shifts, passing storms, forgotten harbours—the exhibition offers a fragmented, atmospheric glimpse into a world both familiar and dissolving. Through layered textures and intuitive forms, the artist captures the strange stillness of moments suspended between beauty and erosion, presence and disappearance.
