Left Knee Pain
His referral came as 'Left Knee Pain'
And when I see that X-ray film I'm thinking..
Good joint space
(gap between the bones)
Plan MRI knee if he gets catching pain
± Knee Arthroscopy if there's a target on MRI
(a meniscal or cartilage tear)
Steve told me his story..
And it was a good news story.
He's a runner.
A kindred spirit..
And he looked like a runner
Middle of last year he'd got some foot pain
Picking up a diagnosis on plantar fasciitiis in the same foot.
He did all of the conditioning work to strengthen that leg + calf
And that pain settled down.
Back to running, going well.
End of last year Steve gets 5/10 knee pain
On the inside (medial side) that evolved into a clunk.
At this point I'm still thinking MRI ± knee scope (arthroscopy)
BUT Steve scaled back to his running.
(he knows how to do this well in his training)
He felt a bit guilty about running 'cos he'd been told to rest.
My advice..
'Don't NOT run'
Steve replied.. 'Well, I shouldn't tell you this either..'
BUT 'I ran the Bath Half last week'
AND he was now at the peak of his training for the London marathon.
'So how's your pain?'
