Property Taxes Due September 30

The first half of Town property taxes are due TODAY, Tuesday, September 30. Interest begins accruing on October 1. (Village taxes were due September 1.) Please contact Amy Eldridge, the tax collector, at 338-3819x2, with any questions.

Climate Resilience Fair

Come learn what is happening in climate resilience, sustainability, and adaptation in Waldo County at Steamboat Landing in Belfast from 10am-3pm on Saturday, Oct. 4. Northport's very own Climate Resilience Committee will be one of close to 50 exhibitors, from community organizations and environmental groups to green energy companies. Food, music, and family fun. Rain date is Oct. 5. The Fair is sponsored by the Waldo County Climate Action Coalition. More info at: waldoclimateaction.org.

Northportpalooza!

Property Revaluation

The Town will be conducting a Town-wide property revaluation this winter. The last revaluation was in 2004, and the state recommends doing one every 10 years. The revaluation will help bring all the assessed property values up to date based on their current value. The assessors expect to visit properties starting in December, and the Town will be sharing more information as we get closer to the project.

Traffic Safety Committee

The Select Board is seeking volunteers to serve on a traffic and pedestrian safety committee. The goal is to look at a few issues throughout Town -- speed, crosswalks, sidewalks -- and come up with recommendations for the Select Board to consider funding in next year's budget. Waldo CAP Neighbor for Neighbor

Waldo CAP and the Neighbor for Neighbor Coalition are pleased to present the 2025 application for holiday assistance to Waldo County residents. Anyone in Waldo County with a need can request food boxes for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas and Christmas gifts for children in a household.

The deadline for applying for Thanksgiving food boxes is Friday, October 31. The deadline for applying for Christmas food boxes is Wednesday, November 26. To apply, simply click on this link and fill out the application: https://forms.office.com/r/BMhsWcqfyr

Dog Licensing

Dog owners may renew their dog's license starting October 15, and renewals are due by December 31. Please contact Robin Coombs at 338-3819x3 or deputyclerk@northportmaine.org with any questions.

Town Office Project Update

The Town's request for $2.35 million in federal funding was approved by the full Senate on August 1. The request must still be approved by the House and be signed by the President before we can begin construction.

The Town's fundraising committee is also actively pursuing private donations and grant opportunities to help reduce the amount of money the Town will have to borrow to fund the project.

The site plans, floor plans, and exterior elevations for the Town Office and Community Center project are available on the website and an 11"x17" paper copy is available at the Town Office.

Transfer Station Reminders

The price of dump stickers is now $4 to cover increased costs in the Town's new contract for hauling household trash. All bagged trash is $4, and you will have to either trade in your blue stickers at the Town Office for the new yellow stickers at $1 each, or pay the difference with a check at the Transfer Station.

You may also use up old blue stickers by placing two blue stickers on a bag of trash.

Please trade in or use up old blue stickers ASAP.

Upcoming Meetings

The Select Board regularly meets on the second and fourth Monday at 6:15pm at the Town Office. Agendas and minutes are available on the website. If you have anything you would like to add to the agenda, please contact James Kossuth at administrator@northportmaine.org or 338-3819x6 by the Wednesday before the meeting.

The Select Board meeting regularly scheduled for Monday, October 13, has been moved to Wednesday, October 15, due to the holiday.
