💬 A message from our Practice Manager

Hello and welcome to Willowbrook.

My name is Rebekah, and I am proud to lead this amazing team. At Willowbrook, 2026 is all about a fresh focus on what really matters – caring for our patients, being accessible, and building strong relationships with our community.

We know that visiting a GP can sometimes feel stressful or impersonal, which is why we still answer all our telephone calls, offer face-to-face appointments without forcing online booking, and ensure every patient is treated as an individual.

We’ve recently welcomed a new GP to our team, expanded our clinical expertise in areas like wound care, respiratory disease, and diabetes, and continue to be a teaching practice, helping shape the next generation of healthcare professionals.

This year, we want you to experience the Willowbrook approach first hand — from the care you receive to the way we make our services accessible and supportive. Whether you’ve been with us for years or are considering joining, our doors are always open, and we would love to show you what makes Willowbrook special.

Salaried GP Joins Willowbrook

Odion is a valued member of the Willowbrook team. He first joined the practice in 2024 as part of his training with the Sherwood Forest GP Programme, where he worked alongside our clinicians and got to know the practice and our patients. We were pleased to welcome him back to Willowbrook as a GP in August 2025.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our recent Open Day. It was lovely to welcome patients and members of the community into the practice, answer questions, and share more about our services and team. We really appreciated the interest, conversations, and feedback on the day, and we hope everyone found it helpful and enjoyable.

RSV and Pneumonia Vaccine

The NHS offers vaccination against RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) to help protect those most at risk, including older adults and some pregnant women. The RSV vaccine is available throughout the year, and we will contact eligible patients directly with information on how to book.

Flu vaccinations later this year

Flu vaccinations will be offered again later this year for people who are eligible. In line with national NHS guidance, some groups — including young children and pregnant women — will be eligible from September, with most adult groups eligible from October. We will contact eligible patients when vaccines are available and invite you to book an appointment.

Childhood Vaccinations

Ensuring that your child receives their vaccinations is a vital step in protecting their health and well-being. We understand that as a parent, you may have questions or concerns about the vaccination process. Our team is here to support you every step of the way. If you are feeling unsure or have any queries, we welcome you to book an appointment to discuss your child's vaccinations with one of our healthcare professionals. This consultation can offer reassurance and provide you with the information needed to make informed decisions about your child's health. Remember, vaccinations not only safeguard your child but also help protect the wider community by preventing the spread of infectious diseases. Your child's health is our priority, and we are committed to assisting you in making the best choices for their future.

DESMOND Programme for Diabetics

We are excited to share that Michelle, one of our dedicated healthcare assistants, is currently attending training for the DESMOND (Diabetes Education and Self-Management for Ongoing and Newly Diagnosed) programme. This nationally recognised programme is designed to empower individuals with type 2 diabetes by providing them with essential knowledge and skills to manage their condition effectively.

Michelle’s participation in the DESMOND training highlights our commitment to offering comprehensive care and support to our patients. Once her training is complete, Michelle will be equipped to deliver this valuable education programme to our community, helping patients understand their diabetes, make informed lifestyle choices, and improve their overall quality of life.

GP Training Practice

We’re proud to be a training practice and enjoy helping to support the next generation of healthcare professionals. From time to time, you may be offered an appointment with a trainee doctor or nurse, a GP Registrar, or another healthcare professional working alongside our experienced team.

At present, our current registrars are with us for a longer placement, which gives them the opportunity to get to know our patients and our community better during their time here. They may see patients in joint surgeries with their GP trainer present. We will always ask for your permission in advance, and choosing not to see a trainee will never affect your care or your choice of clinician.

Training at the practice is supported by Drs Jenkins, Watts, Woods, and Freeman.
