So, I, and many of my colleagues have been reluctant to change.
BUT, as often happens, information and circumstances have changed..
Less Wear
We now have implants and materials that wear out ~10x slower.
So, potentially, implants last a lot longer.
A remarkable achievement..
Giving us good data on modern implants out to 15 years.
More People
So, there's been an acceptance that empowering people to come back when they feel the time is right is the right way to go.
That frees up more time in clinic to see those people who need help most.
And hopefully ensures that we see people at the right time
When they're having problems
NOT at a fixed point in time.
Often for the sake of it..
What I thought might help is to keep useful links together in one place
here:
Information pages on Hip + Knee replacement
Newsletter subscription: click reply anytime to keep in touch
Online Clinical Outcomes monitoring: for Bath / Basingstoke + Cornwall
It's a brand new page and you will among the first to look at it.
So, as ever, let me know what I'm missing?!
If you've been placed on a PIFU or Patient Initiated Follow Up pathway,
And, as ever, good luck!
