Hello everyone,
It's that time of year: "For Your Consideration" season. Voting for who will make the final round of nominations at the 2026 Grammys started on October 3 and runs through October 15 (that's tomorrow; hurry up!), with the list of "nominees" announced November 7.
You know how you hear artists talk about it being an honor just to be nominated? It's true! Voters have to pick through 1,015 songs this year to narrow them down to the eight finalists for "Song of the Year." There are 686 options to cull through for "Album of the Year." Heck, even "Best Opera Recording" has 77 submissions.
We are, of course, biased, but we think voters have some great options from artists on our roster this year. Will Billy Strings follow up his 2025 win for "Bluegrass Album" with one in 2026 for "Highway Prayers"? Or will Yonder Mountain String Band follow up their 2023 win with one for "Nowhere Next"? Maybe East Nash Grass will sneak in there alongside them for "All God's Children"!
We're certainly rooting hard for Thee Sacred Souls to see their triumphant "Got a Story To Tell" take home hardware in the "R&B Album" category. Perhaps their "Lucid Girl" fits the bill for "Record of the Year"? It definitely makes our shortlist.
And if Watchhouse doesn't grab nominations for "American Roots Song" we'd be kind of surprised, but "Rituals" should get a look in a broad range of categories, as one of the most thoughtful albums to land in the last year. Watch out for Eddie 9V's "Saratoga," too — "Love Moves Slow" has caught a lot of people's attention.
Of course, we know voters have a lot of amazing options. There's no way to even list all the possibilities just from our own roster in exhaustive fashion. It's a good problem to have!
See you out there on the road,
CT
