Polish Heritage Day
I was delighted to attend a wonderful celebration of Polish culture and community, bringing people together to honour rich traditions and heritage.
Thank you to everyone who helped make Polish Heritage Day so special.

Little Kelham
Residents at Little Kelham spoke out powerfully at a meeting I organised to discuss serious concerns with Citu, including broken promises, escalating costs and unfair governance changes.
I will be taking these issues forward as an urgent priority and will be pressing Citu to address them and deliver the fair treatment residents were promised.

My letter to the Water Minister
Yorkshire Water has paid billions to shareholders while infrastructure crumbles, pollution continues and customers face ever-rising bills.
I've written to the Water Minister calling for a meeting, demanding action and asking why customers are still paying the price for decades of mismanagement.

Sharrow Festival
Another wonderful Sharrow Festival! Thanks to everyone who came to visit me, Councillor Ibby Ullah and the Labour team at our stall. Just another great event run by volunteers showcasing the heart and community spirit of Sheffield. Well done and thank you to everyone involved.

The Big Walk
Great to welcome the weary walkers, having chosen a 20 or 30 mile route over the Peak District, crossing the finish line at The Edge. The Big Walk happens every year, with walkers raising money to fund life-changing research at the University of Sheffield.
This year's fundraising will support pioneering research at the University of Sheffield's Insigneo Institute, developing safer, radiation-free MRI scanning technology to improve the diagnosis and treatment of children with lung conditions. Congratulations to all the walkers!

It was brilliant to visit Amodo Design and see how they’re supporting breakthrough innovation, creating high-skilled jobs and bringing investment into our city.
Sheffield continues to prove that it’s a fantastic place to grow world-leading businesses and drive the technologies of the future

Kelham Pride
I had a wonderful day at Kelham Pride at the end of Pride Month. It was amazing to see so many people coming together to celebrate diversity and inclusion. We had brilliant weather and the sense of community was uplifting.
Thank you to everyone behind the scenes who I know worked really hard to make the day so special.

Safer pathways for Gazan students
Last year, the Government responded to my calls to provide safe pathways for students in Gaza, which meant that one hundred and thirteen young people were able to take their places.
I wrote to the PM and Home Secretary to ask that we, once again, commit to evacuating students from Gaza who have been given a place at our universities.
I will continue pushing for a fair and robust policy for all refugee students.

Eritrean Community School Club
After meeting a member of the constituency living in Walkley, he invited me to celebrate a year of success and hard work with the Eritrean Community School Club, who provide young people with the opportunity to improve their English, Maths and Science, among other subjects.
Congratulations to all the young people who received their certificates. It was great to celebrate the success of the children and the wonderful work being done to support them.

SEND provision
It's welcome news that Sheffield has been awarded £3,854,542 to help make education more inclusive for children and young people with SEND.
This investment is a positive step, but there is still much more to do to improve support for families, reduce delays in assessments and ensure children receive the help they need at the right time.
I look forward to seeing this funding make a real difference in schools across Sheffield.

Fareshare foodbank

Remembering Srebrenica
On 11 July, we remember the genocide of more than 8,000 Bosniak Muslim men and boys in Srebrenica in July 1995.
We honour the victims, the survivors, and their families, especially the Mothers of Srebrenica. The lessons of Srebrenica remain as urgent as ever. We must stand against hatred, challenge dehumanisation wherever it appears, and recommit ourselves to preventing genocide.

The Hillsborough Law
The Hillsborough Law has taken another important step forward, after several delays. Though it is long overdue, we are here to get it right.
It has been a tireless campaign, families and campaigners have spent decades fighting for justice. The law will help ensure public authorities cannot evade responsibility when they fail the people they serve.
I pay tribute to everyone who has brought us to this moment and look forward to supporting the Bill as it continues its passage through Parliament.
A tragedy such as the Hillsborough Disaster and the ensuing fallout must never be allowed to happen again.

Vodafone franchisees
I welcome the news of a settlement being reached between Vodafone and the 62 former franchisees, one of whom is my constituent.
These small business owners fought for years to have their voices heard after describing devastating financial and emotional consequences, including enormous personal debts and fears of losing their homes and life savings. I know they are relieved today and I hope this provides them with some closure.
Going forward, we need much stronger regulation to reset the balance of power and ensure that franchisees are treated fairly.

EMR train changes
I travel by train regularly myself, so I know just how frustrating EMR's service has become. Too many cancellations, overcrowded trains, not enough seats, and now more timetable disruption.
EMR confirmed via email that it is reducing its Sheffield to London service from 20 July. Giving passengers such little notice is simply not good enough. Many people will already have planned journeys.
EMR has confirmed that ongoing reliability and maintenance problems with both its old and new trains are behind these changes. That may explain the decision, but it doesn't excuse the poor service or the lack of communication.
I'll be writing to the Rail Minister demanding answers and pushing for the reliable railway our communities deserve.
If you're travelling over the next few days, please check before you travel and consider alternative operators.
