The Paragon of Preschool P.E.
The preschool students had a blast in P.E. last week! Using a giant, colorful parachute, they worked together, laughed, and played games that encourage teamwork, coordination, and lots of giggles. Activities like these not only help build not only motor skills, but joyful memories with friends. P.E. continues to be one of our students’ favorite times to move, learn, and grow!

Turn a Page in the Shade
Mrs. Reese's second grade class enjoyed spending their DEAR(Drop Everything and Read) time out in the beautiful almost-fall weather. Every week, SRCS students are working toward reading goals and marking their progress through their participation in the Accelerated Reader program. An extensive study has shown that students who participate in AR are twice as likely to be college ready. Parents and students can track their achievement online. To learn more about AR, click here.

Second Grade Cereal Jam
Last week in science, the second graders studied how sound is a form of energy. They did an experiment, placing Mrs. Carty's Bluetooth speaker in an empty bowl covered with plastic wrap. They then poured cereal on the plastic wrap and turned the music on. The kids were amazed to see how the cereal bounced to the beat of the music - the more bass the better!

The Church Has Left the Building
The Senior Bible class spent time learning about the non-profits and charitable associations of Citrus County. Each student was given one organization and asked to research if it was started by Christians, if it continues to operate with a Christian focus, and what area of need it seeks to address. The class is learning about the vital role that Christians have played and continue to play in bringing healing and flourishing to the communities where they live. This exercise also gave students the opportunity to see where they can serve locally. To learn more about some of the organizations in our county, click here.

All Things in Moderation
The students in Environmental Science played a simulation game to learn about the importance of conservation in the stewardship of our natural resources. The game showed how overfishing eventually leaves the players' families without any food, which reinforces the necessity and purpose of preserving our common resources.

NHS Lends a Decorative Hand
The school's chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) loves to help out the Student Government Association (SGA). Last week, NHS helped SGA decorate the halls for Homecoming Week. On Saturday, they also helped decorate for the Homecoming Dance. NHS would like to thank SGA for all their hard work in planning the decorations, activities, games, and dance. Thanks for making Homecoming Week so much fun!

Miss Carr - Grammar School Aide
Hello Warrior Families! My name is Abbie Carr, and I am the aide for 5th and 6th grade! I am a graduate of Reformation Bible College, located in Sanford, FL, and hold an A.A. in theology. Throughout my life, the Lord has placed teaching on my heart, so I am taking this time at Seven Rivers to pray and seek if it is the Lord's will for me to continue my education for this vocation. When I am not working, you can find me sipping coffee in a coffee shop as I crochet handmade loveys and stuffies for craft markets.

Mr. Jeffes - Upper School Bible
I was born in Flint, Michigan, and have lived in Citrus County for about 40 years. I am married to Jennifer Jeffes (30 years this past June). We have 3 children: Madeline (26), Jane (23), and Elly (20).
I have been the pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Inverness for 22 years. I taught a class at SRCS from 2014 to 2020, and I am excited to be back this year to teach a Bible class. I enjoy theology, philosophy, religion and worldview studies. I am currently teaching 11th grade Bible and hope to provide the students with a respectable grasp of the worldviews they will encounter, one that will serve them well for years to come.
Seven Rivers has served my family with excellence. All my children are graduates of Seven Rivers, and as a result are flourishing, active in serving the church, and serving Christ in their respective endeavors. Jennifer and I owe much to Seven Rivers, and I am glad to have the opportunity to serve in return.

From the Advisor's Desk
The PSAT-NMSQT Each October, students in grades 9-11 take the digital PSAT-NMSQT test. Taking the test allows our students to get critical practice for the real SAT. For a time competitive colleges seemed to be moving toward test-optional admissions, but the trend has reversed.
Colleges and universities are using the SAT, ACT, and the CLT to measure a student’s predicted academic success. Certain SAT scores (as well as ACT and CLT scores) are used as part of the Bright Futures qualification process.
Juniors who score high enough on the PSAT are eligible to become National Merit scholars. Having the chance to become familiar with the SAT's structure and question types is very beneficial for students applying to colleges or hoping to earn scholarships. More information about the 2025 PSAT test (administered at SRCS) will be coming to parents in the next couple of weeks.
