Our mission as peers is to support one another as people who are challenged by the daily effects of life with, coping with, and recovering from mental health challenges.

Everyone is encouraged to develop greater awareness of personal and relational patterns, and to support and challenge each other through Peer Support, Self-Advocacy, Empowerment, and Education.

Our ultimate goal is to achieve recovery and ongoing wellness!

Winter can feel long, cold, and draining, but it’s also an excellent opportunity to reset and recharge. With the right Winter Wellness Activities, you can boost your mood, increase your energy, and stay grounded all season long.

Simple habits—like getting more light, moving your body, connecting with others, and creating cozy routines—can make winter feel lighter and more enjoyable.

Get Morning Light For A Better Mood

Morning light is one of the easiest ways to reset your energy during winter. When daylight hours shrink, your body craves signals that it’s time to wake up.
Sitting by a window, stepping outside for a few minutes, or using a light therapy lamp can help boost serotonin and balance your sleep cycle. Even on cloudy days, natural light raises alertness and reduces grogginess.
Starting your morning with just 5–10 minutes of light exposure can lift your mood, improve your focus, and give your day a calm, positive rhythm that carries you through colder weather.
Open curtains immediately after waking, or step outside for 10 minutes. Light exposure early boosts serotonin, regulates sleep, and energizes your body, even on cloudy winter mornings.

February Highlights

SUPERBOWL PARTY AT H.E.A.R.T.S.

Our Residential Program

Here at H.E.A.R.T.S., we offer two residential programs:

1. Crisis Respite Program
A 6-night, 7-day stay for individuals who may be experiencing an emotional crisis or mental health challenge.
It’s designed as an alternative to hospitalization and is staffed and supported 24/7 by peers with lived experience.

2. Step-Up Step-Down Program
A transformational, transitional living opportunity for individuals seeking a longer-term, safe environment to develop life skills, enhance coping strategies, and prepare for independent living.
This program generally lasts 30 to 120 days.

Participants in both programs are free to come and go, enabling them to continue working, seek employment, and build supportive networks with friends, family, and mutual-aid groups.
