The Spring Creek Greenway project - from Dr Ann Snyder Way to East of Kuykendahl is currently in the design stage, with approximately 30% of the design completed. This project phase is a joint effort between Harris County and The Woodlands Township to develop a 14-foot-wide asphalt trail extending from Burroughs Park to Gosling Road, with future planned connections toward the I-45 area and beyond. The Woodlands Township has committed $5 million toward construction of the trail, with Harris County contributing an equal amount.
This new segment of asphalt Greenway Trail will run parallel to the natural-surface Spring Creek Nature Trail (SCNT). Township staff continues to work closely with Harris County, which is building the Spring Creek Greenway Trail, and with Bayou Land Conservancy, which built and provides base maintenance for the SCNT.
The current plans for the Greenway route have limited direct interaction with the Spring Creek Nature Trail. Staff has worked with Harris County and Bayou Land Conservancy to minimize areas of overlap, and to develop a plan to reroute certain sections of the Nature Trail where appropriate. These adjustments are intended to provide greater separation between the natural-surface trail and the paved Greenway trail while supporting long-term connectivity, public access, and preservation of the natural trail experience.
