A brief look back over the month just gone, and what’s on the horizon…

The start of the year saw the closing party for Newcastle Contemporary Arts collaborative show between Spaghetti Factory and System Gallery. The show featured over one hundred local artists. Find out more by clicking HERE >

An article about the rebrand of High Bridge Works was released in January by the Northeast Times Magazine. It contained an interview with Sarah Tempest of Altogether and Mark Dawson of Everything, representing the two companies that worked collaboratively on the building rebrand. Newcastle City Council interviewed building manager Peter Mackay-Jackson on the history of the building. This came shortly after our exciting rebrand as High Bridge Works and offered a brief history of the building. You can watch the full video below

For the last month we have had the Gary Carter x Rachel Brook show up in the building reception. This has been a collaborative show between two of our studio holders. The work on display includes original paintings by Gary which had not been previously shown. Rachel and Gary hosted an opening event on January 20^th to celebrate the start of the exhibition. This event was well received, with proceeds from the bar going to West End Refugee Service.

One of our longstanding studios holders, Savalas modelling agency, recently appeared in the Newcastle Chronicle. The brilliant interview with Terry Costello, founder and lead agent of Savalas Models was posted on January 16^th, and you can read it HERE >

We recently welcomed renowned street artist Muldraws back to the building to create a mural on the wall of Newcastle Contemporary Art! This was commissioned by Drummond Central as part of their ongoing covid campaign, and a press conference was subsequently hosted in the space. 

The next upcoming show at Newcastle Contemporary Art will be the MFA Interim Show, put on by fifteen MFA students from Newcastle University. The show will run from the 17^th – 26^th Feb with a private view on Wednesday 16^th February between 6 and 9pm.
