Crossover Touring July Update |
Hello, everyone!
We don't know about you, but this summer has truly been a whirlwind so far — and not just because of the intense storms that some of you have had to deal with! Sometimes it seems like the entire roster is playing a gig, releasing a single, and recording a podcast appearance all at once. It can be hard to keep up with it all.
Hopefully, like we have tried to do, you get a chance to take a minute wherever you are to stand in front of a great brand, take a deep breath, and just let the music wash over you. While often it can feel like we live our lives six months in the future, it's important to be in the moment from time to time and remember what it is we love so much about this business.
See you out there on the road, CT

• A couple weeks back, The Womack Sisters dropped a new video for "If I Let You," as part of announcing their debut, self-titled record on Daptone Records, to be released August 14. You could say it was something of a sensation, garnering them 3.3m views and nearly 200,000 followers on Instagram alone in the first two weeks, not to mention gains on every other platform that matters (including a 200% increase in monthly listeners on Spotify). As Rolling Stone, Uncut, and Mojo line up to put together features, fans are lining up to see them alongside Thee Sacred Souls on the Constellation Tour that launches August 4 — but you can catch them at Pickathon this weekend if you'd like.
• Good news! The leg is healing just fine and Billy's back on stage, standing up, and wowing fans. Even better news: On June 30, he announced a new album, "So Much for Goodbyes," which will drop August 28 (coinciding with the Freak Fair), is produced by T-Bone Burnett, and honors his late mother, whose artwork graces the album cover. As a taste, Strings dropped the single "Burn the Other End," fueled by minor chords and a little bit of his metal roots (and currently #8 on the Americana charts). Oh, and fall tour dates now run through December in Austin.
• As the Souls prep for the Constellation Tour, make sure you check out the latest single, "Waiting on the Right Time," a collaboration with Victor Axelrod, aka Ticklah, who's played with the Dap-Kings and Antibalas, among numerous other projects. It's got a smooth, reggaeton beat and broadens the band's sound yet further — especially with the b-side, "Waiting #2," which is remixed and simply far out.
• The International Bluegrass Music Association dropped their annual list of award nominations on July 15 and we were thrilled to see so many Crossover artists represented — including Entertainer of the Year and Instrumental Group of the Year nominations for Billy Strings and East Nash Grass, who also earned an Album of the Year nomination for "All God's Children"; Fiddler of the Year for Bronwyn; Female Vocalist of the Year for AJ Lee; Mandolin Player of the Year for Sam Bush; and a couple Collaborative Songs of the Year and a Video of the Year for Billy to boot. Then, as an added piece of good news, the IBMA announced the Cody Sisters have been nominated as Band of the Year in their 2026 Momentum Awards. Not bad!
• Anticipation has been building for new music from Eddie 9V since the announcement of his signing with Easy Eye Sound and, boy, did he deliver. Last week, he released the first single, "Blowin' Up," complete with a very fun video featuring Eddie doing a turn as Evel Knievel. The full album, "Down Here," drops in November, right in the middle of an extensive fall run.
• What does Gwenifer have planned for the fall, other than supporting roster-mate Tallest Man on Earth in October? Supporting Geese on their Getting Killed tour for a string of dates that start at the Ryman in late September and continue into November. That's a busy season! But it's no surprise. Raymond's almost mystical take on the guitar has been resonating like crazy on both sides of the pond.
• Hot off a crushing show at Red Rocks (and their first ever charity golf tournament), Clay Street announced last week their first live album, "Live from the Road, Vol. 1," which comes out August 21. As a preview, they dropped a take on MGMT's "Kids," captured earlier this year in Charlotte, which turns the pop hit into a fiddle-hot, twang-filled burner. And they show off their versatility in this up-close take in the round of their hit, "Let's Get Stoned," from Winter Wondergrass, too. Make sure to catch them on their fall tour, which hits the West Coast hard.
• Coming off a Newport set this past weekend and a rousing rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" at Wrigley, and while prepping for a solo run through Australia, Eric D. Johnson gave fans a treat from eTown, which dropped a series of solo videos from their taping back in March. Songs like "Ocean," from the 2019 record "Gold Past Life," are breathtaking in their intimacy. The full-band Fruit Bats tour starts in late September in LA.
• Just a few days after their "Seaside Town" became their first Spotify track with a million spins, AJ Lee & Blue Summit dropped the latest from their upcoming "Cover to Cover" album, "Soak up the Sun," a take on the Sheryl Crow classic that shows off AJ's mint-perfect vocals wonderfully. They've got an extensive festival schedule this summer before commencing a long East Coast tour this fall.
• Last week, Arkansauce announced their fifth full-length, "Horizon Never Dies," will drop on August 28, coinciding with a fall tour that will take them across the Rockies and Midwest. To get you excited, they dropped "Soda Pop," a bouncy and creative piece of Americana that sounds like they've been listening to a bunch of Zappa.
• In the run-up to dropping her second solo full-length, "Rattlin' Bones," on August 14, Bronwyn released a second single, "Johnny Ray," which has been a staple in live sets for the past year or so, like her white-hot appearance at FloydFest this past weekend. Initial returns are strong: The track debuted at #80 on the Americana charts.
• Finally, it's great to see Big Richard get in on the fun of Pickin' On Post Malone, with their take on "Lemon Tree," which they turn into something delicate and haunting, showing off a knack for arrangement and harmonies that is truly next-level. Make sure you catch them at Rocky Mountain Folks Fest or Philadelphia Folk Fest the next two weekends.
