A Note from Jill

It’s amazing how quickly 10 years can go by. I couldn’t have guessed when I came to Bayou Land Conservancy in 2016 how much I would love the world of land conservation and the people, like you, that make this work possible. And now I am planning to retire this August. I have great confidence in our board and know that a superb staff leader will be chosen in the coming months. As BLC celebrates 30 years of preserving land along streams for flood control, clean water, and wildlife we’re setting up for our next phase and another successful 30 years of conservation.

Thank you for supporting me as Executive Director over the last 10 years and for your unwavering commitment to the land conservation work that benefits our entire community.

Volunteers Needed for Invasive Removal!

Join Bayou Land Conservancy’s Invasive Species Eradication Patrol (BISEP) on Saturday, February 7th and March 14th at Arrowwood Preserve to remove invasive species!

We’ll kick things off with a quick safety talk and a rundown on the plants we’re targeting. Then we’ll walk along natural trails to our work spots and get busy removing invasive plants to help the native wildlife thrive.

Saturday Outdoor Adventure

Join us at Pundt Park on Saturday, February 21st at 10 am for a Saturday Outdoor Adventure with Harris County Precinct 3!

Rose, our Community Conservation Manager, will be leading a hike and talking about riparian areas at 10am! Enjoy nature and make something to help our ecosystem. From deer to bees and all the plants in-between.

Join us on Saturday, March 7th as we learn about the feathered friends that come out as the sun goes down!

Learn about owls and other nocturnal birds at the outdoor classroom at Arrowwood Preserve. If conditions allow, we will take a short hike to see if we can spot some of the nighttime residents!
