As March comes to a close, we’re proud to reflect on the fantastic CyberFirst activity that has taken place across the Yorkshire and Humber region this month. A huge thank you to all the students, teachers and industry partners who have participated in, volunteered at and supported events across the region.
CyberFirst at Get up to Speed with STEM

At a recent event at Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham, students explored the world of cryptography through hands-on STEM activities, learning how codes and encryption underpin modern cybersecurity.

It was great to meet so many South Yorkshire schools interested in opportunities through CyberFirst.

Thank you to Esa Iqbal and Isam Ahmed from Sheffield Hallam University for volunteering on the stand and speaking with schools about the upcoming Cyber Careers Pathway event at Sheffield Hallam University on 29 April, which they are also helping to organise and deliver for students.

We were also pleased to welcome Tim Needham, Civic Mayor & Chair of Council, Doncaster, who stopped by to say hello, and a special thank you to Dave Timlin for volunteering in his ambassador role and supporting the day.

CyberFirst and Sheffield Hallam University have partnered to host an exciting Cyber Career Pathways event for schools and colleges across Yorkshire and the Humber.
This hands-on cyber security and digital forensics event is designed for GCSE students aged 14–16 and will give them the opportunity to explore the rapidly growing world of cyber security.

Throughout the day, students will take part in interactive cyber security and digital forensic workshops, hear talks from cyber security specialists, and learn about the career opportunities and pathways available in these fields. They will also gain insights from regional employers about the cyber security skills needed across a range of industries in Yorkshire and the Humber.

The workshops have been designed and delivered by second-year Cyber Security and Cyber Security with Forensics students at Sheffield Hallam University. This provides visiting students with a valuable opportunity to speak directly with current university students about studying cyber security, university life, and potential career pathways.
