Get Ready to Teach Geography 7-10 Syllabus (2024) in 2027
The new Geography 7–10 syllabus offers a range of resources designed to assist teachers in preparing for the implementation of the new syllabus.
The following support materials can help you get started with implementation:
What's New
HSC English Annotations
The annotations have been developed for texts that are prescribed for the first time in 2027–2030. The annotations can assist teachers with choosing texts and include suggestions for teaching and learning.
The annotations can be accessed in the ‘Teaching and learning support’ tab under each English 11–12 syllabus, and in the Related files section beneath relevant focus areas.
What's On
WriteOn 2026 Competition2026 COMPETITION
There are four weeks left to submit your students' entries for WriteOn 2026 before the competition closes on Friday 19 June.
This year, students from Years 1–6 use the stimulus quote “It was a small thing, but it made a difference” to create an imaginative text of up to 500 words.
Winners will be celebrated at a prestigious event and published in The Best of WriteOn 2026 anthology.
National Reconciliation Week 2026
National Reconciliation Week is from 27 May to 3 June. This year’s theme, All In, is a reminder that we are all responsible for taking action as part of our reconciliation journey.
At NESA, we continue to support reconciliation by:
building and maintaining relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders
providing Cultural learning opportunities for all staff
recognising and following Cultural protocols.
We are also running a range of staff activities as part of National Reconciliation Week, enabling NESA staff to stay meaningfully connected to our work supporting improved learning outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and children.
