Parody Pizza and a Mississippi Man Cave

I’ve often been asked if ApologetiX will ever write a parody of one of "Weird Al” Yankovic’s original songs. Although many of those rank among my favorites in his catalog, the odds of us spoofing him are only slightly higher than the odds of him spoofing us. ;)

I came across a restaurant in the suburbs of Pittsburgh recently and took the photo below, because it made me think that if Al ever spoofed our song “Read Ephesians,” he could do “Eat Ephesians.”

Actually I should add a comma and make it “Eat, Ephesians.” Otherwise, people might think the parody was advocating cannibalism of some sort.

The church in Ephesus was the first of the seven churches to whom Jesus gave a message in the Book of Revelation. On Tuesday, I sang the vocals for a parody pertaining to the last of those seven churches, Laodicea. It’s one of the songs on our next single. You can read the clues later in this week’s issue.

Incidentally, I don’t think I’d like to eat at a place called Pizza Laodicea. I like hot pizza, and I even like cold pizza, but, based on Revelation 3:17, I have a funny feeling Laodicea’s pizza would be lukewarm.

Thankfully, God blessed me with a wife who likes pizza almost as much as I do (although she doesn’t eat very large portions). My beautiful bride’s birthday is tomorrow, as a matter of fact, so we’ll be going out for dinner, but not pizza. I like pizza, but I love Lisa, and she’s always hot!

Clues for 2026 Single #1

We hope to release our first single of 2026 by the end of this weekend or the first part of next week, Lord willing.

Do you recall Christ's letters to the seven churches in the beginning of Revelation? Here we are, two millennia later, and they still resonate. For example, it’s easy to fall into complacency and apathy just the same way people in the church of Laodicea did. If you’re feeling that way, stop wasting precious time, and let the Lord in before it’s too late.

SONG #2

Are you in a sad situation and praying for a miracle? Wherever you are, don’t cry. Wipe away the tears, open your eyes, and go open a Bible. The prophet Isaiah wrote that God lives in Heaven but also with the contrite and lowly in spirit, and He will revive them (57:15). A real encounter with the Alpha and Omega will exceed your wildest dreams.

Wall to Wall ApX in Mississippi Man Cave

Here’s a neat photo and message we received recently from a pastor in Mississippi who is also an ApX fan:

I had talked to you about making some ApologetiX posters, but I could never decide which albums I wanted to make posters of. So I decided to plaster my wall with all my CDs.

I am missing a couple I am still looking for. And I started out in order but lost track along the way. But I am glad to have them all up!

Move over, Pink Floyd … you’re no longer the only band with its own wall

Pastor Vince has been a great encourager to us over the years. We counted 73 CDs on that wall. Sharp-eyed ApX fans will probably be able to figure out the seven he’s missing.

It’s nice to see he does have the one whose cover spoofs the Pink Floyd album we alluded to above.
