Signed, Sealed, Delivered
The Kindergarten classes took a trip to the post office to learn all about how the United States Postal Service runs. The trip included writing and addressing letters, adding a stamp, and dropping them in the mail slot to be delivered to their final destinations.
Did you know that the postal system was established in 1775 through the Second Continental Congress and that Benjamin Franklin was appointed as the first postmaster general? The USPS employs almost eight million people and manages 44% of the world's mail volume. This institution is exceptional in scope and history and continues to play a key role in our daily lives. First Grade Explores the Wildlife Park
Our first-grade students visited the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, sporting the shirts they printed using real fish! The students enjoyed watching the fresh and saltwater fish and manatees in the underwater observatory. They saw foxes, snakes, flamingos, black bears, and alligators as they trekked across the wooden trails that weave through this beautiful gem of preserved natural habitat.

Students All Abuzz About Bees
Second Grade has been learning about honeybees as a part of their study on insects. Mrs. Jen Bibeau visited to show how the honeybee collects nectar and takes it to the hive to convert it into honey. She donned her bee suit and showed them a hive box. Her presentation also included a short video and honey sticks for the children.

7th Grade Field Trip to Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park
Submitted by Sawyer Spear
This year’s trip to Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park was a blast. Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings is the author of one of the books we read, The Yearling. First, we got to learn some stories about Marjorie’s pet, Racket the raccoon, and even saw its footprint. Then, we walked along a calming nature trail, and the guide gave us stickers for answering questions. Next, we went to the tenant’s house where Marjorie's servants lived, and we saw antique pieces of furniture. Finally, we walked through the orange groves to Marjorie’s house where her books were displayed. She had a beautiful front porch where she wrote most of her books. We saw her bathroom, which had the first ever plumbing in Cross Creek, Florida. We learned so many interesting facts and saw so much wildlife, including a cat that hangs out at the park. Before we left, we had free time to eat lunch, climb trees, and play on the grounds. This trip not only taught me about Marjorie’s house, but it also taught me to love and appreciate nature.

Students Reflect on Literary Journey You wouldn’t know the school year is winding down if you stepped into the Eleventh Grade English Honors classroom this week. Instead of easing into the final stretch, students have been hard at work diving deep into a thoughtful literary comparison that brings together past and present learning. Revisiting Fahrenheit 451, first read in ninth grade, and pairing it with their recently completed novel, Brave New World, students have been actively engaged in rich discussions and analytical writing. Their task: to compare and contrast the ways each novel explores control within society.
As they worked, students examined themes such as pleasure versus pain as tools of control, the influence of propaganda and ideology, and the pressures of social conformity. With texts open, notes in hand, and ideas flowing, the classroom buzzed with collaboration and critical thinking. It’s clear that even as the year comes to a close, these students are not slowing down. Instead, they’re sharpening their analytical skills, making meaningful connections, and demonstrating that deep learning doesn’t have a season—it’s ongoing.
