What a Bunch of Characters!
On Friday, January 30th, the preschoolers braved the cold to participate in the Book Character Parade, featuring protagonists from a variety of well-loved children's authors including Margaret Wise Brown, A.A. Milne, Eric Carle, Bill Martin, Jr., and Laura Numeroff. Thanks to all the family members who came out to enjoy the colorful march of animals, insects, coconut trees, scarecrows, and other creatively crafted characters.

Fourth Graders Brave the Elements
The fourth-grade students have been studying the fascinating world of atoms and molecules, including the periodic table, which is a comprehensive tool that organizes all of the known chemical elements (118 in total) according to their atomic number. As part of this unit, they created a periodic table for the fourth grade, using their names, initials, and ages.

Show us the Dinero!
The students in Mr. Gutierrez's Spanish class were tasked with creating We Believe Campaign posters in Spanish to help encourage fellow students to join the effort to fund the new high school. They stated several motivations to give including the importance of better classrooms, support for athletes, generous giving and last, but not least, the opportunity to make their Spanish teacher happy!

Chemistry Students Mix It Up
Mrs. Goforth's chemistry students spent their lab time creating ionic compounds which are chemical compounds consisting of oppositely charged ions. Did you know that we handle and depend on ionic compounds on a daily basis? Some well-known ionic compounds are table salt, sugar, water, baking soda, and antacids.

The Pulsera Project Recognizes the Spanish Club The Spanish Club was gifted a hand-painted coffee bag in recognition of having raised over $5,800 in bracelet sales via their participation in The Pulsera Project. This effort places SRCS is in the top 5% of over 4,000 schools nation-wide who have hosted sales of artisanal handiworks made by and sold on behalf of communities in Central America.
Part of the mission of the SRCS Spanish Club is to promote "cultural awareness, community, and compassion." We are very thankful for all the students and parents who have helped us love our international neighbors as ourselves over the years.
