“Creativity in June feels like sunlight: abundant, warm, and impossible to hold in one place.” ~ Unknown

"I’m honored to be a member of Artworks Gallery! I have had a long journey filled with Farmers Markets, Arts & Crafts Shows, two shops, and my own business since 1988, "Basket Works N.W. by Reggie." I love working with the public, and they honor me with their purchases, custom orders, and special requests. I jokingly say, “I love it when people tell me what to do,” as they have unique and inspiring ideas. My passion is working with colors and shapes. Growing up as the daughter of a painting artist inspired me to create. The public tells me I have incredible color schemes.
"Moving to Whidbey Island 11 years ago was perfect for me. All the artist friends that I've made on the island have inspired me a great deal. Artists need artists. To date, I have woven 19,756 baskets, including sailboats! Read More >>

"A couple of months ago, I met a man who asked me to weave a sailboat. At first, I wasn’t interested, but I love sailing and sailboats, so I listened to myself. That evening, I had a plan and realized that I could do it! The first one took me 2 ½ long days to construct. Now they take 2 long days, and I have made six so far. This is my first time weaving something other than a basket."

Judith Burns works primarily in Acrylics with occasional forays into collage and mixed media. Her work has been described as "Having an element of transparency whose vivid, intense colorations seem to glow from within and radiate outward.” Her career as a musician and composer inspires much of her artwork, bringing melodic and rhythmic elements into the compositions.

|
Judith shares about one of her most recent paintings below: "A real Whidbey sky inspired the background of this painting, but I wanted to add something to give it life. There are so many amazing birds on this island, I felt the need to include some, and I chose cranes. The day after it was finished, I was going to ask my friends in a painting group to help me come up with a name. But early that morning, a poet I follow shared a beautiful Native American poem of a crane who saved the days from darkness by waking up the spirit of the Dawn. There was my title! The entire poem is in the Artists’ Book on the gallery desk if you are interested in reading it."

"The star of my flower grouping, currently in the gallery, is the Butterfly Amaryllis. A few years ago, I found the bulb pictured in a catalogue labeled Papillon de fleurs. They were amazing. I knew immediately I wanted to paint it. So, I ordered the rather expensive bulb, planted it, and waited for the bloom. It did not disappoint, and I couldn’t wait to paint it."

Watching the Sound - Giclee prints in 8" x 10", 11" x 14", and cards

"The original of this painting has flown to its new home, but prints and cards are available. I saw this remarkable Heron while I was sitting in the ferry lot, and had to get out of my car and capture him in a photo."
