The Spelling Bee is Back!

After a successful online bee last year, RMS PTSA will be hosting a school spelling bee this year as well. This year, we will also add four spelling / coaching classes, available free to everybody who registers. Enrollment is open, register now! The written test will use a list of 450 words, and subsequent stages use a longer list of words. Both lists are available once you register. Meanwhile, we're looking for volunteers! RMS PTSA would like to thank all the volunteers that helped out for the Hearing and Vision Screening on Tuesday, October 12. They worked extra-long shifts to check the health of all ~1000 RMS students! Thank you so much for taking time out of busy schedules to help the school and students. One More Member for Nom Comm Needed

The RMS PTSA is need of just ONE MORE VOLUNTEER to round out our 2021-2022 Nominating Committee before our October 19 General Meeting! Come and join the other two members in searching and recruiting for next year's RMS PTSA Board of Directors. This is a remote-only volunteer position and you work on your own schedule! No experience is required, just a willingness to communicate with potential candidates! Training and resources will be made available to you!

School & LWSD

Season 2 Sports

LWSD offers the following sports during Season 2 (11/1 - 12/17): Girls Badminton and Boys Soccer. All forms and payment need to be submitted by Wednesday, October 20 to be eligible to participate in Season 2.

Families can sign up for after school sports via
Final Forms (the district platform for athletics). Your student can register for up to 1 sport each season. Students do need to have a valid physical, be an ASB member ($25) and pay the fee for sports ($75). Payments through LWSD Payments. Scholarships are available, please contact Ms. Poblete (spoblete@lwsd.org) to request one. LWSD Volunteer Vaccine Requirement (Repeat)

As of October 18, volunteers in schools will have to be vaccinated. There are now two ways for volunteers to show proof of vaccination. In person and Remote through Microsoft Teams. Register to Vote in Washington Your voice counts! King County Elections will mail out ballots on October 13. You should receive your ballot by Monday, October 18. If you do not receive a ballot call 206-296-VOTE (8683).

City of Redmond Update

Climate Town Hall
Attend Virrtual Open House on Climate. Join King County Executive Constantine, Mayor Birney, and Issaquah Mayor Pauly at a virtual King County – Cities Climate Collaboration (K4C) Town Hall, Tuesday, October 19, from 6:00-7:00 PM. The discussions will include building climate equity and resilience into long-term planning, followed by a Q & A for attendees. 

Share Your Thoughts on Health Through Housing
King County purchased the Silver Cloud Inn as part of the Health Through Housing program, which will provide permanent supportive housing for individuals experiencing homelessness. Please complete a short questionnaire by October 31 and share your thoughts on what successful operations of the program would include.
