“Autumn... when every leaf is a flower, is a time for the artist to find beauty even in decay.” ~ Henry David Thoreau

Viewing or immersing myself in nature, or watching wildlife go about their daily lives, brings me joy and refreshes my soul. My painting "Almost Sunny" is so typical of our weather here - gray and cloudy with hopes for sun always lingering on the horizon. And "Water’s Edge” softly whispers tranquility. I hope when you view my art, you can smell the air, feel the ocean breeze and hear “Apple Gobbler” munching away. Read More >>

The pleasure of turning pieces of tree on a lathe started 30 years ago on a $5 garage sale lathe. My current focus is on green turned bowls that change shape when dry. My preference is for organic forms and textures, knots, voids, and " discolorations" that reflect the challenge of being a tree. This summer I’ve salvaged several nice logs, a ninety-year-old cherry, a twenty-inch diameter cherry, a giant burl from Madrona Way, and I’m starting on a lovely 24" branch from a 220-year-old Garry oak. I feel privileged to be living with this abundance. Read More >>

My work focuses on the transformative nature of fire. The process of surrendering pieces directly into the flame creates a more intimate relationship with the work because while it requires specific time and attention it also demands a leap of faith, the complete release of expectations. I believe that the destructive nature of fire brings both a sense of strength and fragility to the pieces. Read More >>

My painting background began when I studied to become an Interior Designer. I like a good challenge, so after 5 years of focusing on watercolor, I made the leap to plein air oils, taking classes from William Elston. My husband Dennis and I love to hit the road in our old Roadtrek camper van and many of my painted images come from those trips. Drawing and painting gives me time to calm down and focus on the beauty that surrounds us. I hope you enjoy my efforts. Read More >>
