Spring is in the air, and the maple trees are flowing. The Maple Program will be starting  March 4th through April 3rd, when we have schools coming to the MacKenzie Center to learn about the maple syrup process. Anyone who would like to help teach 4th graders (mostly) can contact the DNR office at the MacKenzie Center.

On April 5th we will be hosting our Annual Maplefest, with a return of the pancake breakfast, with the assistance of the Lake Wisconsin Lions Club. At Maplefest we will also have a quilt raffle (shown below) drawing to be held at 12:00 noon. Raffle tickets are available now by contacting me at (608-720-8730 cell), or at Maplefest.

Scholarship DUE MARCH 15th!

Friends of MacKenzie created a scholarship for high school and college students who live in the Columbia county to receive a scholarship of $1000 in a specific related field. A set of rules can be found on the website.

The deadline is March 15th. Please share the information with your family and friends.
Highlights from December Meeting

There were no board meeting in January due to annual membership meeting.
  • Administration office floor is repaired. It was damaged due to flooding.
  • MacKenzie staff developed a wish list for the board's considerations.
  • Weather permitting, prairie fields (bison's and north) will be burn in spring.
  • Discussion and planning were made for Maple Fest scheduled for April 5th.
  • Developing the scholarship rules for students. (see the blurb below).
  • Next meeting, March 11th.
