Preschoolers Remember the Resurrection
The preschool students dressed in their Sunday best for the Easter Chapel on April 1st. It was a beautiful and joy-filled morning remembering and rejoicing in the good news of Easter. Thank you, Mrs. Cash, for sharing God's truth with our littlest students in such a meaningful way. He has risen!

The Eggs Tell the Story
The first-graders prepared Resurrection Eggs to guide them in sharing the Passion of the Christ. Eggs are filled with small items that represent moments in the week before Jesus' death and resurrection: donkey hair for the triumphal entry, a coin representing the betrayal money, a communion cup for the Passover, a picture of praying hands for Gethsemane, a piece of a leather whip, a thorn for the crown, a nail representing the crucifixion, a die for Jesus's robe that was gambled away, a stick representing the spear that pierced his side, a piece of cloth representing the burial linens, a stone representing the tomb. The final egg is empty, symbolizing the empty tomb! After preparing the eggs, the students practiced sharing the Good News with students from second grade and Kindergarten.

Water, Water, Everywhere
Whether coastlines, springs, rivers, or pools, Citrus County offers a plethora of aquatic recreation for kids and adults alike. This makes the topic of safety a pertinent one. One of the many programs offered by the local YMCA is water safety. Instructors visited the second-grade classes to teach them some basic principles about how to stay safe in and around water.

Chapter and Verse
Mrs. Carty's second graders are practicing their "sword drills" to see who can find a particular section of scripture first. In Ephesians 6, the Apostle Paul tells the church to equip themselves with the "sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." Sword drills help the students to grow in their familiarity with the Bible and ability to locate passages with greater ease and speed.

Fifth Graders Over the Moon About Space Exploration
The fifth-grade students took a field trip to the Kennedy Space Center to learn about the amazing history of space exploration. Whether visiting the Space Shuttle Atlantis, which was retired after 33 missions, or learning about the heroes of NASA, the trip did not disappoint. The highlight of the trip was seeing the Artemis II rocket getting ready to launch. Artemis II is the first crewed lunar flyby in over half a century. It launched April 1st and is set to land tonight! To learn more about the Artemis II mission, click here.

Rainy Day Recess
Mr. Carty's fourth grade class did not let the inclement weather rain on their recess parade. They gathered indoors for a good old-fashioned game of jacks.

Host Families Needed for International Students SRCS is in need of two host families for Chinese exchange students, Zoe and Faith, for the next school year. Both girls come from Christian families and studying at SRCS is a priceless opportunity for them to be immersed in the English language and receive an excellent Christian education. Zoe (left) will be a senior next year. She first came to SRCS mid-10th grade. She is in National Honor Society and her cumulative GPA is 4.02. She enjoys art, tennis, and academics. There is a possibility that Zoe will have her license and a car to provide her own transportation. She is outgoing, fun, and loves to play games. Faith will be in 10th grade next year. She came to SRCS the beginning of this school year. Her cumulative GPA is 3.50, and her interests include art, tennis, and academics. Faith is quiet, independent, and likes to cook. If you are interested in hosting, you have the opportunity to meet the girls before May 18th when they return to China for the summer.
