Planning for the New K-6 Curriculum

A sample whole-school curriculum plan is available to support schools with the new K–6 syllabuses.

The plan outlines the sequential development of knowledge, understanding and skills from Kindergarten to Year 6. It provides practical guidance for how to plan and sequence learning across Creative Arts, Human Society and its Environment, Personal Development, Health and Physical Education and Science and Technology. The sample plan can also be adapted to suit each school’s context.

Reminder: syllabuses being implemented in 2026

Senior syllabuses

From now, the English and Mathematics syllabuses are to be taught to Year 11 students.
In Term 4 2026 the English and Mathematics senior syllabuses will be taught to Year 12 students.
In Term 4 2026 History Extension will be taught to year 12 students.
Health and Movement Science will be examined for the first time.

2026 is the last year that the English, Mathematics and History Extension (2017) syllabuses will be examined.

2026 is the last year the English Prescriptions 2019–2026 will be examined. From 2027 new prescriptions will apply.
