Preschool Art Show Brightens the Day

The preschoolers enjoyed the annual Art Show which provided the opportunity for our youngest students to showcase what they have learned about the ten artists introduced throughout the school year. It is a joy to see their creativity, growth, and excitement on display.
Royal Manners on Display

The kindergarteners celebrated Valentine's Day with a Royal Manners Tea Party. The class dressed in their finest for a "Tea Party" breakfast. The gentlemen escorted the ladies to their seats and assisted them with their chairs. Students were served with real teacups and saucers. They were encouraged to use what they had learned about good manners!  Kindergartners were heard to say, "How are you today?", "Yes ma'am", "No, thank you", and paid compliments to one another while making eye contact.  It was a royal morning filled with fine food and good manners.
Students Participate in Speech Competition

Last week, SRCS held the 4-H public speaking competition for 4th-6th graders. This contest is part of a program that works to develop character, confidence, and public speaking abilities in young students. Below is a list of the contest winners in each class.  Speech topics included travel, historical figures, amazing animals, and meaningful experiences and challenges.  The top two winners in each runoff will represent SRCS at the county speech competition.

Galentine's Day

The 9th Grade Girls’ Small Group gathered Friday evening for a fun twist on Valentine’s Day - Galentine’s - with food, games, prizes, and a movie.

In Upper School, students are encouraged to join a grade-level small group led by a faculty member in order to develop stronger friendships, grow spiritually, and have fun together.
It's a Frog's Life

The freshman spent last week experiencing a hallmark of high school science: frog dissection. This was part of their study on comparative anatomy between frogs and humans.

Some interesting facts about frogs:  frogs do not have ribs; frogs drink and breathe through their skin; when a frog swallows, the eyes pull down into the roof of the mouth to help propel the food into the throat.
NHS Supports Night to Shine

The SRCS chapter of the National Honor Society had the opportunity to partner with the Tim Tebow Foundation for Night to Shine. The foundation describes Night to Shine as "a complimentary event for people with special needs hosted by local churches around the world. The event is open to anyone living with disabilities, ages 14 and older. Each event is unique to its location, but some cornerstone activities included across all of them are a red carpet entrance complete with a warm welcome from a friendly crowd and paparazzi, hair and makeup stations, shoeshines, limousine rides, karaoke, gifts, and a catered dinner."

The night also features "a crowning ceremony where every guest is honored as a King or a Queen - the way God sees them each and every day." This evening was impactful for NHS volunteers. We look forward to participating again next year.

College-Bound Citrus

The Citrus County community is committed to supporting students in their pursuit of higher education. One way future college students are supported is through Summer Rise, a two-day college-prep program designed specifically for rising seniors.

Summer Rise helps students jump-start the college application process. Participants begin drafting their college essays, prepare for potential interviews, and receive valuable tips on completing applications successfully. In partnership with the College of Central Florida, professionals from across the county share their expertise and guidance with students preparing for the next steps in their academic journey.

As an added blessing, every participant receives a laptop to use for college applications and coursework.

We are proud to celebrate the Seven Rivers' students who took advantage of this opportunity and received their computers.

Underclassmen, take note: Registration for Summer Rise opens in the spring. You won’t want to miss it!
