J. Jackson, lead singer and lyricist for ApologetiX here.
In last week’s issue, we asked you to pray for ApX guitarist Tom Tincha’s wife, Deborah, who’d hurt herself after slipping on some ice just days before she was scheduled to have surgery for an unrelated condition she’d been dealing with for quite some time. On top of that, while treating her after she fell, doctors had discovered that she appeared to have a spider bite on her left calf muscle.
I just got this update from Tom on Friday afternoon (a week after her surgery):
|
She is progressing with her recovery from the surgery. Good news is that the biopsies came back fine, thank the Lord. The spider-bite phenomenon is clearing up; however her ribs are still very sore.
Yesterday, I had to call off work from other two jobs. Our cat, Preston, had to be rushed to the Pet ER. It was a roller coaster of a day emotionally. We thought we were going have to put him down. Thankfully, we went to our vet that we normally take him to after that and got a second opinion.
Our vet did not agree with the conclusion that the ER came to, so to make a long story short, Preston is still with us. He has brought both of us a tremendous amount of joy over these last couple years. To lose him would’ve been devastating to both of us.
|
Praise the Lord! As I told Tom afterward, the older of our two cats, Bongo (age 16), had to be rushed to the pet ER near us the previous week. He had swallowed a bunch of yarn … just sucked it up in front of my wife, Lisa. She checked online, and that can be deadly for cats, because it could perforate their intestines.
Thankfully, the vets at the Pet ER were able to use medicine to induce vomiting, and he recovered fine. We are so grateful to God for that! Below, you can see the bunch of yarn Bongo swallowed, now in a souvenir bag from the lab.

Lisa took a photo of Bongo with our dog, Sparky, earlier this week. I told her I think it looks like an awkward old Olan Mills or Sears portrait that somebody would post on Facebook.

Speaking of pet projects, we have articles below for you regarding our fast-approaching next CD and single! Read on, McGruff!

Fabulous Update from Bill "Moose" Rieger |
Late Friday night, after we already had this newsletter prepared, we received this breaking news from ApX alum drummer Bill “Moose” Rieger:
|
For all the prayer warriors and the Apolo-faithful: All the cancer is gone!! The tumor is still there, but it's dead. I have five more cycles to complete. They're doing that in case there are microscopic cells that the MRI can't pick up.
My MRIs are backed up to every four months now. Still a very high probability that it comes back at some point, but, with regular MRI and early detection, they're confident that it's manageable.
Praise God!!
|
Amen, Bill! Hallelujah! That’s fabulous news!
Thank you, Lord! And thanks to all of you who have been praying!
Here’s a photo of Bill, his daughters, his sons-in-law, and grandsons from this past Christmas:

The Story Behind Our New CD |
To get the story behind our new CD, we first need to harken back to its predecessor ...
Our 80th LP, You're in the Eighties Now, exclusively spoofed songs from 1980-81. With more '80s parodies planned for our 82nd and its direct successors, we decided to make this, our 81st, be Everything But. Consequently, it focuses on the '50s, '60s, '70s, '90s, and 2000s. Speaking of 2000s, ever since Jesus came on the scene 2000 years ago, His enemies have tried everything but still haven't been able to stop Him and His kingdom. Meanwhile, a lot of unhappy people in this day and age have pursued everything but Jesus. Yet they remain unsatisfied. Why? No matter how successful/rich someone may be, it's an exercise in futility to seemingly achieve/acquire everything but lose the most important thing. As Jesus Himself said in Matthew 16:26: "What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?" We encourage all our listeners to ponder that and to investigate all He said and did. Look into everything but do so with an open mind and open heart.
And now here’s a look at the songs we spoofed, the artists who performed them, the chart positions they reached, and the years they peaked:

We hope to release our second single of 2026 by the end of this weekend or the first part of next week, Lord willing. Here are your clues. Want to really impress us? See if you can spot all of the references in both entries. We counted a total of 17.
SONG #1
Jesus asked, “Who do you say I am?” Simon replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” You may agree, but what good is it if you don’t let it show day after day in the real world? There may be a price to pay, but somebody out there needs to hear you say it. Don’t hold back; it’s time. Otherwise, people might think you don’t believe.
SONG #2
In today’s angry world, the Christian life can be a lonely one. People don’t want you to tell the truth; they’d rather be kept in the dark. Even so, they’re keeping an eye on you. All we have to give them is our testimony. Learn how to live in a manner that proclaims the Gospel even more than words can say, and ask God to break down the walls. Once the new single is released, we'll announce it in our news bulletin, on our website, and on our Facebook page.

Bible-Reading Plan for 2026 |
We began our latest trip through the Bible on Wednesday, April 3. Note: If you don't have a Bible handy, you can look up these passages for free on Bible Gateway. They have about 60 different English translations/versions there to choose from, plus translations in many other languages, many of which also have multiple translations/versions.
