Focus is the default The biggest difference between the remote/async teams we share here and legacy teams is a default to focus.
In an office you have to fight for that kind of focus and deep work.
When I was last in an office I was constantly booking meeting rooms to be alone. If I couldn't get a room, I was putting headphones on to keep people from constantly interrupting.
Escaping the office isn't enough though. If your company isn't mostly async and you're being asked to jump into meetings all day long, you'll never get time to do deep work at home either.
Remote/async teams know that sending a
Loom is more efficient than asking people to schedule a call.
They know that most projects can be moved forward via written documentation. Flexible schedules designed around time to focus will achieve the same, if not better, results.
