Where Do I Belong?
Mrs. Kelly's class read a classic, Put Me in the Zoo, by Robert Lopshire. The book tells of a magical leopard who can change the colors of his spots, among other amazing tricks. He desperately wants to earn a place in the zoo but finds in the end that the circus is the place for him! The students then made giraffe masks with colorful dots to remind us that each person is uniquely created.

Students Showcase a Tapestry of Music
Kindergarten through fifth-graders performed a concert titled "American Patchwork," featuring several of Americana's greatest musical numbers. Paying homage to the craft of quilt-making, the concert weaved together stories from America's history, from its agricultural roots to expansion across the continent; from the birth of cities to our heritage of Christian faith. The audience enjoyed songs such as "Old Dan Tucker," "Sidewalks of New York," and "Wade in the Water", as well as a recitation of the classic poem, "Casey at the Bat" followed by "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." The final song, which was performed by all the students, was Woody Guthrie's "This Land is Your Land." A special thanks to Mr. Bogart for his direction and creative guidance as well as Mrs. Couric, who accompanied on the piano. You can watch the concert again by clicking here.

Host Families Needed for International Students SRCS is in need of two host families for Chinese exchange students, Zoe and Faith, for the next school year. Both girls come from Christian families. Studying at SRCS is a priceless opportunity for them to be immersed in the English language and receive an excellent Christian education. Zoe (left) will be a senior next year. She first came to SRCS mid-10th grade. She is in the National Honor Society and her cumulative GPA is 4.02. She enjoys art, tennis, and academics. There is a possibility that Zoe will have her license and a car to provide her own transportation. She is outgoing, fun, and loves to play games. Faith will be in 10th grade next year. She came to SRCS at the start of this school year. Her cumulative GPA is 3.50, and her interests include art, tennis, and academics. Faith is quiet, independent, and likes to cook. If you are interested in hosting, you have the opportunity to meet the girls before May 18th when they return to China for the summer.
