A Note from Jill

Core to Bayou Land Conservancy’s mission is permanent preservation of land along streams to buffer people from the impacts of flood waters. We do this by working with willing landowners to conserve land in floodplains. We also advocate for smart development that keeps people from living inside areas that will flood, like the 5,000+ acres of floodplain land at the confluence of Spring Creek and the San Jacinto River, now owned by Scarborough Land Development.

BLC’s Board of Directors recently passed a resolution supporting the permanent protection of that land. If you want to add your voice, please consider signing on to this petition and contacting your elected representatives. Together we can make a difference!

Volunteers Needed for Invasive Removal!

Join Bayou Land Conservancy’s Invasive Species Eradication Patrol (BISEP) on Saturday, July 11th at Arrowwood Preserve to remove invasive species!

We’ll kick things off with a quick safety talk and a rundown on the plants we’re targeting. Then we’ll walk along natural trails to our work spots and get busy removing invasive plants to help the native wildlife thrive.
