COVID-19 Info

City of Redmond Closed Through 2020

Due to the ongoing uncertainty and Governor Inslee’s indefinite pause of the state’s phased approach to reopening, City of Redmond facilities will remain closed through the end of 2020. Redmond Police, Fire and other critical City services are fully operational. City staff are teleworking while facilities are closed. For more information, please visit the City of Redmond COVID-19 website at http://redmond.gov/COVID-19.

School & LWSD

Second Laptop Roll-In, August 6

RMS will be having a specially scheduled date to return all materials that are still outstanding such as laptops, power cords, textbooks, class novels and library books. Laptops need to be returned so that they can be re-imaged, otherwise they will not function in the new year. If you were an 8th grader, not returning your laptop may prevent you from receiving a new one at the high school. If you have found a stylus over the summer, please return it and the assessed fine can be deleted. A separate report listing outstanding materials will be emailed to you.

RMS Materials Return: Thursday, August 6, 7:30 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Drive-thru only
  • Please wear a mask or other necessary PPE
  • Be ready to hand over devices from your car
If you were issued a hot-spot, and are still using it, please keep that item at this time, unless it is no longer needed. Please do not come to pay fines. Instead, pay fines online at https://payments.lwsd.org

If you need a different time to drop off your items or have questions or concerns, please email
[email protected], Associate Principal Stuart Price.

Face Mask Design Contest

Calling all RMS students! Showcase your artistic talent! Submit your original design for the PTSA Face Mask Design Contest, and help keep our community safe in a Grizzly way! The winner gets a $20 gift card and a free mask! See the flyer for rules and details.

Submit Entry: Mask Design Contest Submission Form
Deadline: Friday, August 14, 11:59 PM
One entry per student

All RMS students are welcome to participate! Voting will be done online between August 18-28, and the winner will be announced on August 31. RMS PTSA is looking forward to receiving lots of creative entries!

As we prepare for the new school year, one thing is certain. We need to add face masks to our usual Back-to-School kit! We will not have in-person classes right away but when we do, we'll certainly need those masks. So why not use a bit of positivity and creativity to design a mask you would be proud to wear? The winning design will be used on the “official” 2020-21 RMS masks (think RMS Grizzlies T-shirt) for sale. The proceeds will help supplement hygiene kits to be distributed to RMS families in need.

Volunteers Needed for Spelling Bee

RMS had a successful spelling bee last year with strong participation and we're looking to repeat that success this year. With the ongoing COVID-19 situation, it is possible we will do this online! Online spelling bees have become prevalent in the U.S. this year - there are four online-only spelling bees scheduled between now and September!

Whether we do a bee in person or online, we are looking for volunteers to spread the word, communicate with parents, help conduct the preliminaries and finals (track participant scores, write certificates, etc.) Especially consider volunteering and helping make the school bee a success if your child is interested in spelling bees! Please reach out to
[email protected] if you're interested!

Reflections 2020-2021

The Reflections Program is a National PTA arts competition. Summer break is a great time for students to think about how to present their creations. The theme for the 2020-2021 PTA Reflections Program year is "I Matter Because..." Students may submit completed works of art in one or all available arts categories. See the WaState PTA Reflections website for details. Congratulations to Grizzlies that competed at the state level last school year!

The Reflections Program needs you as Chairperson! The Chairperson promotes the event, collects students' submissions, recruits judges to determine which works of art will pass to the Council level, organizes an event to display artwork, & submits winners to PTSA Council. PTSA offers training and resources available to guide you every step of the way. For more info, contact
[email protected].

If you are interested or know someone else who might be a good fit, or if you have any questions, please send an email to [email protected].
