We are thrilled to highlight one of our remarkable board members, Barbara Farnsworth!
Barbara became involved in Hartford Community Coalition in 2013 to support the Hartford community after the loss of three young lives to suicide. She joined the board, eventually becoming the board chair in 2016.
She helped expand the summer lunch program and was part of the team that established the non-profit status for Hartford Community Coalition as a 501 (c)3 in 2017.
She enjoys working in the community and experiencing the change HCC is making. HCC’s goals are to make Hartford a healthy place to work, live and play. She believes in supporting our neighbors through bringing resources to the community and creating a safe place to talk about difficult topics impacting our community, such as dialogue nights with community experts to discuss suicide, depression, and overdose deaths with the goal of reducing the stigma when experiencing, or asking for help in these areas.
Barbara’s “Hidden Gems of Hartford” include the hiking trails in the Hartford Forest, the leadership and staff of Hartford Parks and Recreation Department, and the Good Neighbor Health and Red Logan Dental Clinics. Good Neighbor Health and Red Logan Dental provide essential medical and dental services to our neighbors who are uninsured or underinsured; they have an incredible staff and a large cohort of medical and non-medical volunteers who make these services possible.
Thank you for everything you do, Barbara!
